TARGETED ASSISTANCE TO INTENSIVE AGRICULTURAL INDUSTRIES PROJECTThe objective of this project, managed by the Waroona office of the Department of Agriculture and Food, was to develop technologies and a frameworks to reduce nutrient loss from point sources such as horticultural and dairy industries. The study sort to identify, quantify and investigate opportunities to control of rural point sources of pollution. It is closely related to the Rural BMP Project, which focused on the diffuse sources of nutrient pollution and covers a similar process of identifying and auditing sources of pollution, looking at the nutrient balance in the system, assessing the existing control processes, preparing targets and benchmarks, looking at nutrient trading and other possible management actions, and working with the licensing bodies on how best to implement and recommendations that will ultimately contribute to the development of the Peel-Harvey Water Quality Improvement Plan.
